The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;


Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,


And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.


I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

1) this poem is a lyric poem and has (inner) rhythm. It is also much visualized so it was easy to imagine the view that this writer has described.

2) “Road” and the constitution of this poem stand for another idea. They are symbolized so I tried to comprehend those symbolized meanings. The constitution of this poem contains lots of meanings. The "road" symbolizes our fatal or destiny. People always confront two or more choices that they can take in order to improve their lives. The first phrase reflects our feeling of frustration that we have to choose only one road. The second composition tells us that gradually people obtain determination about what they have chosen. The third phrase mentions that people miss or retain a lingering desire toward the roads that they didn't take. The fourth phrase tells us that our destiny will be decided on what road we have taken.


3) This poem is translated in Korean "가지 않는 길“ so I could reference some good information about this poem. "The Road Not Taken", also related my life because I had to confront lots of choices that I had to decide through out my life. I found out many common features with this poem.
